What do our residents say
  • Alexander Popov
The American-style residency program in Orthopedics and Traumatology at Nazarbayev University School of Medicine is exceptional and truly prepares us for our future careers. As a PGY-3 resident, I find the program both challenging and rewarding. The competitive yet supportive environment pushes us to excel while fostering teamwork. Having department chiefs as our preceptors is a huge advantage, providing us with direct learning from top experts. There are numerous opportunities for research, which significantly contributes to our development. We are also actively involved in teaching MD students, which helps reinforce our own knowledge. Frequent journal clubs and regular operative skills sessions ensure we stay current with the latest techniques. Plus, access to an excellent library keeps us up-to-date with cutting-edge information. Overall, it’s a fantastic program that effectively prepares us for our future careers.
  • Kazybek Baktybergen
I am studying in the third year of the traumatology and orthopedics program at NU SOM. The program includes three areas: clinical rotations, teaching medical students of NU SOM, and scientific research. We participate in clinical rotations in medical centers across the country, where modern technologies are used. Teaching medical students helps us review important topics and share knowledge. My skills in statistics, acquired at NU SOM, assist me in conducting research in trauma and orthopedics. I am very happy to be a resident at NU SOM. The program is very helpful for professional development.
